A Journey Through The Mind Of A Psychopath...
Psychology is the study of mind and how it behaves. There are many types of psychology that are studied like forensic or social psychology. In psychology, one studies about the behavior of the mind and the how it processes certain conditions.
When we talk about crime, there are certain factors that need to be present or fulfilled for an action to be called a crime. Here is an example; John is a barber and while cutting the hair of a man, he mistakenly cuts the skin of the customer. Is that a crime? No that is not a crime. A crime is when two conditions are fulfilled, Mens Rea and Actus Reus. Mens Rea is the intention of a person to commit a crime and Actus Reus is the action he takes to do the crime. If any of the two are absent then it cannot be called a crime.
Psychology & Crime:
There are many theories given by the people on reasons for a person to become a criminal. Some of the theories are their own personal experiences, some are made based on scientific studies and some are absurdly based on prejudice.
There are many psychological theories about crime which have not made up on personal opinions but they are structured on scientific basis. But the reasons for a person to become a criminal is not one, the reasons can vary or there can be multiple reasons combined.
Criminal Psychology, also called Criminological Psychology is the study of thoughts, intentions, behavior and actions of a criminal. It is a study which goes to find what makes someone a criminal, the reactions of the criminals after committing the crime.
The psychology and crime have a connection between them. What causes a person to take such steps and become a criminal without thinking of the consequences? Does a criminal even think of the consequences? If he does understand the consequences then why does he still commit a crime? These are some serious questions and criminal psychologists are often called in the court as expert witnesses to answer these questions.

Three little piggies going to market each,
Changed their minds, went down to the beach.
A great big rock then cracked each head,
And, left the three of them, all stone dead. R.A.
Three found dead, throwing a quiet seaside town into turmoil.
.
The shoreline was deserted apart from the four individuals cavorting close to the water’s edge. A single gull wheeled overhead screaming out what might have been a warning, had anyone understood, or been prepared to listen. Offshore the swell rose and fell ominously, a restless movement like the bulk of a heaving whale, as it too whispered a plea for mercy.
"Last week I took a short break and I packed your book. I had plenty of reading time, but frankly I did not need it, as once I had an uninterrupted session I quickly got into this riveting story. What a good read." -Brendan Roodt

Now Let's Explore The Mind Of A Psychopath…
The world has a history of criminal psychopaths who committed grave crimes and the reasons for them were not easily understood by a common sane person. The following are some notorious criminal psychopaths
Ted Bundy:
Ted Bundy is one of the most famous serial killer from USA. He was a smart man but there was a problem with him; he was involved in deaths and abduction of at least 35 women in the span of 5 years.
When he was young, Ted was a normal child, he did very well in college and have a girlfriend. The problems with him started when she left him. Ted got upset because she left him saying that he was not “Marriage Material”. She eventually came back to him once she saw that he was becoming a successful man. But Ted had changed, he used to stalk and kill women who resembled his girlfriend. He would choose the women who were thin, white and had their hair parted from the middle. He would kidnap them and strangle them to death, there were signs of necrophilia found on the dead bodies. Ted was executed in an electric chair in 1989 after he tried to escape the prison twice.
Albert Fish:
Albert was a normal old man by the looks but he had committed some of the most notorious crimes of all time. There is a list of crimes he had committed; sadism, masochism, sodomy, pedophilia, necrophilia, mutilation, self-mutilation, cannibalism, coprophilia and urophilia. It is believed that he had raped more than 100 children and killed minimum 10.
The case from which caused Albert’s demise was his famous victim Gracie Budd. He had attained the confidence of her parents. He lured her out of her home insinuating that he was taking her to a birthday party.
The parents did not worry until she did not return home the next day. The crime of Albert Fish surfaced when his letter to her mother was caught in which he had described everything he had done to Gracie Budd. Albert reportedly strangled her to death, mutilated her, cooked her and ate her. He even drank her blood before eating. Albert Fish was caught and he was later executed in 1936.
Kathrine Knight:
Kathrine was not a person you would want to get very close to. Before her most famous crime came to light, she already had a history of insane behavior. Kathrine tried to strange her very first husband and even attempted to kill her own newborn child. She had slashed face of a woman and kidnapped a child too.
Her second marriage was with John price who also had three children. At first, he did not know about mental disorder of Kathrine but when he found out he took out a restraining order. Even after the restraining order, he could not resist her beauty and was sexually attracted to her. He invited Kathrine to spend the night with him. Sadly, that was his last night because she stabbed John to death, Kathrine stabbed him 37 times. Later she beheaded him, skinned him and hung his skin on a coat hanger. When the authorities found John’s body, the scenario was that John’s head was boiling on the stove while parts of his butt were cut up and fried. Kathrine was sent to prison and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2001.
Dennis Rader:
Dennis Rader, also known as the BTK Killer, was a serial killer who had killed at least 10 people in Kansas from 1974 to 1991. He used to commit the murders and send out the letters to media and law enforcement authorities describing the crime. As his nickname suggests, BTK Killer, he would bind the victim, torture and then kill his victims. He would strangle his victim until they passed out and waiting for them to regain the consciousness, strangle them to again so that they would have a near death experience. In the end, he would finally kill the victim and ejaculate on top on the dead body. He was finally caught when the police got the hold of the floppy disk that Dennis sent. The floppy contained the address of work and his name. Dennis is currently in prison and serving 10 life sentences that will continue one after another.
